Calling For An Unprecedented Soul-Shielding Simultaneously Soil-Saving Pro-ORGANIC Agriculture For The Philippines!
With the ongoing Russian-provoked armed conflict with
Ukraine, I am definitely not worried that the supply of inorganic or
chemical fertilizers has been universally bedeviled. Organic fertilizers will
save us people yet.
When he became PH Secretary of Agriculture in August 2019,
almost immediately William Dar
pronounced a policy of “balanced fertilization” as an appropriate response (“Balanced
Fertilization For A Food-Secure Philippines – Secretary Dar,” DA.gov.ph).
He was speaking at the opening ceremony of the 4th National Organic
Agriculture Scientific Conference held 20 August 2019 at Cauayan, Isabela. That
was welcome.
However, with the Russia-Ukraine imbroglio, and with climate
change always hovering with dark clouds over our heads, I now propose to the
Department of Agriculture (DA) this one:
Program
for Reestablishing Optimal Organic Relationships Relating to Geography &
Agricultural Actions as Natural Initiatives in Communities for Healthy
Environment & Living in the Philippines (Pro-ORGANIC HELP).
Pro-ORGANIC HELP is in fact in pursuit of an advanced idea
of Mr Dar himself that in 2003 he called Open
Academy for Philippine Agriculture (OpAPA) that he submitted to PH
agriculture authorities via PhilRice while he was still Director General of the
International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT).
I already have authored a book to help Pro-ORGANIC come
alive digitally; I wrote it 19 years ago! This is The Geography Of Knowledge (TGoK), all 198 pages of it, in
pdf, still intact. TGoK was designed to give birth to Mr Dar’s ICRISAT proposal
he called OpAPA – unfortunately, OpAPA is now nowhere to be found except in
human memory.
Agriculture, especially organic agriculture, should be in
digital memory so that it is ready for access anytime all the time! That is the
overall objective of Pro-ORGANIC HELP – and it should be available to and
understandable by high school students who could then help their farmer parents
search for and utilize the organic knowledge of the world. And yes, searchable
by cellphone!

to DA, if we return the soil to what it was like in the Garden of Eden, we will
harvest Redemption from Climate Change!
With Pro-ORGANIC HELP in place, with agriculture visibly not
only sustainable but regenerative in terms of Mother Nature and human wealth
via organic agriculture, even the jobless and pitiable migrants eking out their
wretched living in the city will be persuaded to go back to the villages
because they know they will thrive there even just by cultivating a patch of
ground.
